Social Media Intern

Location: Hybrid (Tacoma area + remote flexibility)
Duration: June–September (flexible dates)
Commitment: Minimum 5 hours/week (40+ hours total)

Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to help grow our online presence and community engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing student or aspiring social media manager to gain hands-on experience managing a real business account while supporting a meaningful cause. This is an unpaid internship.
Responsibilities
  • Create and publish at least 3 posts and 1 Reel per week
  • Develop content focused on:
    • Volunteering opportunities
    • Education about hippotherapy
    • Fundraising initiatives
  • Capture photos/videos on-site as needed (some weeks may be fully remote)
  • Monitor and measure engagement metrics (likes, shares, reach, etc.)
  • Implement strategies to increase audience growth and outreach
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure content aligns with our mission and events
  • Ensure all content follows branding guidelines
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing or a related field (preferred)
  • No prior professional experience required
  • Willingness to learn about hippotherapy and our services
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Strong creativity and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Animal Care Intern

Location: In-person
Duration: July 1 – September 1
Commitment: Minimum 10 hours/week (80+ hours total)

Position Overview
Sundance Circle Hippotherapy Foundation is seeking Animal Care Interns to support daily equine operations within our therapy program. Interns gain hands-on experience working with horses in a clinical setting where they assist licensed therapists. This role focuses on horse care, safety, and stable management. It is ideal for students who enjoy physical, hands-on work outdoors and want to build foundational horse handling skills. This is an unpaid internship.
Interns participate in
  • Minimum one clinic day per week
  • Professional development workshops
  • A capstone project
  • ​Career exploration in equine and veterinary fields
Responsibilities
  • Lead and exercise horses
  • Groom and prepare horses for  therapy sessions
  • Clean stalls, paddocks, and pastures
  • Prepare and distribute feed and supplements
  • Clean and organize tack
  • Support daily stable operations
Skills You Will Learn
  • Horse behavior and body language
  • Safe horse handling and leading techniques
  • ​Grooming and daily care practices
  • Stable management and organization
  • ​Horse health observation and basic wellness indicators 
Requirements
  • Be at least 16 years old
  • ​Ability to walk up to 2 miles without rest
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • ​Comfortable around allergens such as hay, dust, and animal hair

Therapy Support Intern

Location: In-person

Position Overview
Sundance Circle Hippotherapy Foundation is seeking Therapy Support Interns to support equine-assisted therapy sessions. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting where specially trained horses assist physical, occupational, and speech therapists. This role focuses on client support, session preparation, and teamwork within a care setting. Students will observe, assist, and progressively participate in therapeutic activities under professional supervision. This is an unpaid internship.
Interns participate in
  • Minimum one clinic day per week
  • Professional development workshops
  • A capstone project
  • ​Career exploration in healthcare and therapy fields
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize therapy equipment
  • Observe and assist during therapy sessions
  • Support therapeutic activities under supervision
  • Learn and practice sidewalking techniques
  • Assist staff and volunteers during sessions
Skills You Will Learn
  • Role of horses in therapeutic treatment
  • Communication within interdisciplinary therapy teams
  • Client safety awareness and best practices
  • Session preparation and clinical support skills
  • Insight into healthcare professions
Requirements
  • Be at least 16 years of age
