Volunteer Opportunity Hours
Please verify that our schedule aligns with your availability before applying to volunteer. We do not currently have any openings for shifts on weekends. Sidewalker and Horse Lead Hours:
Volunteers in all roles must be able to walk 2 miles without rest and safely lift 50 pounds. Our volunteer positions include:
Sidewalker: walks alongside the horse, supporting the patient under the direction of the therapist.
Horse Leader: Prepares the horse for sessions including grooming and tacking, then leads the horse during sessions.
Barn Team: includes a variety of sub-roles such as stall cleaning, bring in and turn out, feeding, and cleaning the pastures.
Exerciser: give the horse the required exercise and schooling under the direction of the Barn Manager. These positions are limited to advanced riders and must be approved by the Barn Manager.
Important Information
We are located in Sumner, WA.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
All volunteers must commit to volunteering for 6 hours a month for a minimum of 6 months.
As part of your application you will be required to pay a $10 fee and submit a photo of your drivers license for a background check.
We are a private medical facility. Volunteers may not bring guests, friends, family members, or any other unauthorized individuals to the facility at any time, including orientation, training, or volunteer shifts. Unauthorized visitors will be turned away.
